Job Description

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

 

Administrates financial operations including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budget reports and purchasing; provides accounting support to other departments including communication of budget and finance matters; does related work as needed.

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

 

  • Reports directly to the Executive Pastor

 

  • Supervises Accounting personnel

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal duties include:

 

  1. Oversees processing and depositing of TheChurch income for all revenue sources, offering, online payments, ACH, credit cards and various websites.  Maintain accuracy of documentation detail of income.

 

  1. Administrates staff payroll procedures including personnel information input, deductions, tax records, general ledger posting, auditing, verification and, disbursement.

 

  1. Prepares and maintains all financial reports including weekly offering, monthly budgets, weekly tithe comparison, monthly revenue and expenses as well as revenue and expenses for conferences and special events. 

 

  1. Oversees and manages Accounts Payable.  Review all invoices for payments and process checks/online payments.  Ensure proper documentation of approval for expenses.  Maintains accurate tax records and receipts for all payments.

 

  1. Maintains all corporation and tax exemption filings.

 

  1. Maintains Missions finances on a monthly basis including check processing, deposits and disbursements, donor correspondence, tax records and receipts.

 

  1. Supervises purchasing and related record keeping process.  Oversees all credit card activity.

 

  1. Supervises and monitor workloads of accounting personnel. 

 

  1. Oversees all petty cash dispersement and reconciliation.

 

  1. Oversees Accounts Receivable and collection processes as necessary.

 

  1. Creates and implements new policies and procedures necessary for changes in operations. 

 

  1. Maintains fixed asset list.

 

  1. Analyzes any differences between the contributor and financial reporting.

 

  1. Provides customer service between members and accounting issues.

 

  1. Supervises bookkeeping for the storehouse, review monthly reports.  Coordinate expenses and income between the storehouse and The Church.

 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

  1. Assures the timely and accurate supervision of processing of The Church offerings and receipts.

 

  1. Assures offering disbursement information and various finance reports are timely and accurate.

 

  1. Administrates staff payroll procedures in a timely and accurate manner.

 

  1. Assures all accounting reports are processed and all finance records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner.

 

  1. Performs all general accounting administration duties in a timely, accurate and professional    manner.

 

  1. Assures effective and efficient supervision of accounting personnel.

 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS (at the time of hire)

 

Previous responsible accounting and administration experience; good knowledge of principles, practices and methods of modern accounting and financial administration; previous education or experience with data entry on a computerized accounting program, including word processing, payroll and spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Word, and Excel; good organizational skills; ability to prioritize, work well under pressure and to maintain confidential information in a discreet manner; intermediate level professional accountant, typically requiring a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration with an accounting concentration and 4-5 years of job-related experience; Active participation in church worship and other activities
