Quality Manager

 

 

 

  • MISSION:  Lead all ASK-intTag Quality Functions and manage the internal quality processes

 

  • POSITION SUMMARY :

Plans, coordinates, and directs a quality assurance program designed to ensure production is consistent with established standards and customer specifications by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.  Also, provides technical expertise in manufacturing programs including:  DMAIC, Lean Manufacturing, SPC, and root cause/corrective action problem solving to assure compliance to customer and regulatory requirements.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to excel in the position.

 

  1. Determine and maintain quality objectives complementary to corporate policies, objectives, and goals.
  2. Interpret the quality philosophy and program to key personnel in organization.  Ensure all personnel understand the “essence” of what is expected from them in producing a quality product for our customers.
  3. Customer Quality Programs
    1. Ensure all products delivered to ASK-intTag’s customers comply with the customer’s specifications in terms of outgoing product quality, durability and documentation.
    2. Participate in specification analysis for and with customers, and that these specifications are appropriately reflected in production processes and internal documentation and procedures.
    3. Leads and participates in design and execution of internal audit programs.
    4. Supply COAs/COCs to customers as per customer requirements as well as maintaining all internal records as needed and prudent.
    5. Inspection and analysis of returned products (RMA), including root cause analysis and correction
  4. Internal Quality Programs
    1. Ensure sure all products transferred to/from production are made according to internal QA requirements.
    2. Design, implement, update, and monitor the facility-wide “Visual Metric System” for both production employees and management within the SDQCC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cashflow) Framework, including but not limited to SPC and/or other control methodologies.
    3. Ensure manufacturing best practices are implemented and meet the specified targets
    4. Works with Marketing, Engineering, and Operations to evaluate, formulate, and recommend effective solutions in support of the new product launch/business development process
    5. Maintain all materials, product, and component specifications and information.
    6. Ensure facility meets or exceeds all customer, company, regulatory, and legal requirements and maintain HSE standards of the company.
  5. Supplier Quality Programs
    1. Qualify suppliers and ensure conformance of incoming raw materials. Take corrective action as required to ensure zero non-conforming components as well as raw materials performance improvements and variance reduction.   Implement and maintain supplier performance scorecard system and audit system, recommending both suppliers deserving of recognition and those in need of discontinuation of continued business.  Drive continuous improvement down through supply chain.
    2. Qualify, and control (with supply chain), outsource partners as required.
  6. QMS (Quality Management System):
    1. Maintain the Quality Management System
    2. Transition from ISO 9001-2008 to ISO 9001-2015 and maintain ISO processes and certification
    3. Maintain and improve QA documentation and procedures
    4. Champion Continuous Process Improvement Efforts, in both product quality and production efficiency, at all levels of the supply chain but with key focus on ASK-intTag operations.
    5. Generate 8D Reports.
    6. Administer a Correction Action Program (CAP), which includes, but is not limited to recommending actions and responses with regard to customer claims and ASK-intTag metrics, determining root causes, reporting findings, and developing and implementing any corrective actions and preventive actions as a result of the investigation.
  7. Supervisory Duties:  Directly supervise employees in the Quality department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  8. Manage the Security processes of ASK-intTag
    1. Define and manage the physical and IT security requirements of the site.
    2. Interface with customers regarding all security process, including security audits
    3. Define and maintain security policy of the site
  9. Other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • EDUCATION, SKILLS, and/or EXPERIENCE 
  • 5-10 years experience in a QA role.  Experience in printing, RFID, and/or high velocity manufacturing environments a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S.) in Engineering, Quality, Business Management, or Operations Management from a four year college or university.
  • Six Sigma (DMAIC) training/certification is very highly desired.  Lean Six Sigma a plus.
  • Language Skills:
    • Possess a mastery of the English Language and be able to:
      • Read, analyze, and interpret customer specifications, scientific and technical journals, technical procedures, technical drawings, and governmental regulations.
      • Write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, specifications, and presentations. 
      • Effectively present information and respond to questions from coworkers, groups of company personnel, top level management, and customers.
      • Keep management team abreast of signification issues, developments, and actions pertaining to quality assurance activities.
    • Competency in one or more of French/German/Spanish a plus
  • Reasoning Ability:  Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Be able to interpret a variety of technical instructions in diagram form and deal with several abstract and/or concrete variables.  Be able to envision, articulate, and implement preventative solutions to quality and/or other company performance opportunities.
  • Computer Skills: Use of the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office software is required.  Individual must be able to learn to use software such as ERP system, Computer-aided Design (CAD), MS Project, and SPC/DOE software as the situation requires.

 

  • REPORTING :

Reports to General Manager, Vermont Operations.

Functional :  All functions in US Operations and Quality function at corporate parent

 

External :

  • Customers
  • Suppliers (production materials and equipment)
  • Subcontractors

 


 

Condition of Employment:

 

Must successfully pass the US Department of State MRPT Clearance as well as all pre-employment background checks and 10 panel pre-employment drug screen.
 

Security Clearances:

 

All employees are required to complete and be granted final MRPT approval as a condition of their employment.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Works primarily in an office setting but will (and should) often be on manufacturing floor.  May be required to stand, sit, and/or walk for entire shift. Lifting up to 40 lbs. may be required.  The noise level in the production work environment can be moderate to severe.  Will be required to wear, static, hearing, foot, and/or other personal protective equipment while performing duties in a manufacturing setting.  Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed.  The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
