Job Description

Purpose/Description-

  • The Clinical Director at Coquille Valley Hospital is responsible for one or more defined patient care areas of nursing services and is supervised by the Chief Nursing Officer.  The Clinical Director coordinates activities and provides clinical oversight of Registered Nurses, Certified Nurse Assistants, and the Assistant to the Clinical Director  The Clinical Director will oversee the Emergency Department Nurse Supervisor.  This position assures the efficient and effective delivery of quality nursing care on the Medical Surgical Unit, Outpatient Infusion and has oversight of the care provided in the Emergency Department by Registered Nurses, and Patient Care Technicians who directly report to the Emergency Department Supervisor.

Requirements

Education and Experience-

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related fields.
  • Current Unencumbered license in the State of Oregon as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a managerial position.
  • Excellent Communication and leadership skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of policies and regulations as they relate to nursing.
  • BLS, ACLS, TNCC required at timed of hire.

 

Duties and Responsibilities-

Essential Duties:

  • Hire employees to ensure the department is staffed with qualified personnel.
  • Develop and maintain departmental budgets for Medical Surgical, Outpatient Infusion and the Emergency Department.
  • Assess employee performance and if necessary, discipline employees in a constructive manner. 
  • Assists the Emergency Department Supervisor with employee performance and if necessary, discipline in a constructive manner.
  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees the delivery of patient care services.
  • Approves work schedules in Medical Surgical, Outpatient Infusion and Emergency Department.
  • Participates in overall goals and quality initiatives of the hospital and in performance improvement.
  • Participates in direct patient care when needed.
  • Conducts monthly staff meetings for Medical Surgical Staff and Outpatient Infusion Services.
