Job Description

Purpose/Description-

  • The Emergency Department Supervisor/Trauma Director at Coquille Valley Hospital   ensures high quality nursing services to patients seeking care in the Emergency Department.  This role functions as a clinical expert within the Emergency Department.  This position has direct day to day oversite of the Registered Nurses and Patient Care Technicians providing care in the Emergency Department.  The Emergency Department Supervisor reports to the Clinical Director.

Requirements

Education and Experience-

Education:

  • Current Unencumbered license in the State of Oregon as a Registered Nurse.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • A minimum of one year’s supervisory experience.
  • BLS, ACLS, TNCC required at time of hire.

Duties and Responsibilities-

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for overseeing departmental shift operations, quality of care and staffing of the Emergency Department on a day-to-day basis.
  • Plan, assigns and monitors work of Registered Nurses and Patient Care Technicians
  • Participates in supervisory duties under the direction of the Clinical Director, including hiring, performance review, staff development and coaching/counseling of employees.
  • Participates in the development and review of policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Emergency Department Medical Director, and Trauma Medical Director in the delivery of exceptional care in the Emergency Department.
  • Exhibits professional conduct with all co-workers, other departments and with patients and visitors.
  • Maintains regular and ongoing communication with the Clinical Director
  • Oversees the Trauma Program at Coquille Valley Hospital.
  • Conducts departmental staff meetings monthly.
  • Participates in Quality Initiatives for ED.
